Question 1

What is Language Lift and how does it work?

Accepted Answer

Language Lift is an AI-powered language learning platform built around a central concept: the personal Vocabulary Bank. Instead of doing disconnected vocabulary drills, words you acquire in structured lessons enter your bank. These words are then automatically fed into your speaking practice, writing exercises, and reviews using a spaced repetition scheduling system.

Question 2

How does Language Lift differ from Duolingo, Babbel, or Memrise?

Accepted Answer

Traditional apps focus on passive recognition (like choosing translations from multiple-choice lists) and daily streaks. Language Lift focuses on active production (writing and speaking complete sentences). Our curricula are academically structured (from A1 to B2) rather than randomized, and we connect your vocabulary learning directly to real AI conversation and writing feedback.

Question 3

What is the 'Vocabulary Bank Loop'?

Accepted Answer

It is our core learning method. (1) You read or listen to a new word in a structured lesson. (2) You save it to your personal Vocabulary Bank. (3) Our AI prompts you to write or speak sentences containing that specific word. (4) The spaced repetition system tests you at increasing time intervals until the word is locked in your long-term memory.

Question 4

How do the AI speaking exercises work?

Accepted Answer

Our speaking exercises use advanced speech-to-text and AI reasoning. The AI speaking tutor initiates conversation topics or structured dialogues tailored to your level. When you speak, the system analyzes your pronunciation and syntax, offering instant corrections and grading details in a comfortable, low-pressure environment.

Question 5

Can I use Language Lift to prepare for standardized CEFR exams (A1, A2, B1, B2)?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our curriculum content, vocabulary selections, and grammatical modules are strictly aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The lessons systematically cover the required competencies for Goethe-Institut, TestDaF, and other standard certification exams.

Question 6

How does the AI Writing Coach give feedback?

Accepted Answer

When you submit paragraphs during a lesson or a free-writing prompt, the AI Writing Coach checks your entry sentence by sentence. It corrects grammatical issues (like German case endings or word order), explains *why* the correction was made, suggests more natural vocabulary alternatives, and lets you save any new or corrected words back to your Vocabulary Bank.

Question 7

Does Language Lift teach grammar, or only vocabulary?

Accepted Answer

Yes, grammar is integrated directly into the curriculum. We explain grammar concepts (like German cases, adjective endings, and relative clauses) in context, then use 70+ exercise types to help you build and manipulate sentences using those rules, rather than just forcing you to memorize conjugation tables.

Question 8

What is Spaced Repetition (SRS) and how is it implemented?

Accepted Answer

Spaced Repetition is a science-backed technique where items are reviewed at increasing intervals (e.g., 1 day, 3 days, 8 days, 20 days) to prevent forgetting. In Language Lift, this is fully automated. The system computes a 'Memory Strength' score for every word and rule in your Vocabulary Bank and schedules reviews dynamically. You don't have to build flashcard decks manually.

Question 9

Can I use Language Lift if I am a absolute beginner?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. The A1 curriculum starts with the fundamentals (introductions, basic vocabulary, simple present tense) and slowly scaffolds up to complex B2 level discussions. It assumes zero prior knowledge.

Question 10

Can I study multiple languages at once?

Accepted Answer

Yes. While our launch edition is optimized for German, you can switch between any available or developing languages within your account settings, and each language will have its own independent Vocabulary Bank and progress tracker.

Question 11

How is the vocabulary tailored to my level?

Accepted Answer

The vocabulary introduced in lessons increases in CEFR difficulty as you advance. Additionally, during AI conversations and free writing, the AI speaks and responds using vocabulary and sentence lengths appropriate for your current level, gently introducing 10-15% new phrases (Krashen's Comprehensible Input hypothesis).

Question 12

Can I import my own vocabulary lists into the Vocabulary Bank?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can import custom lists (via TXT or CSV files) or add words manually during lessons. The platform automatically translates, adds native audio pronunciations, and schedules reviews for those imported words alongside your curriculum vocabulary.

Question 13

Does the AI correct style/phrasing or just grammar?

Accepted Answer

Both. The AI Writing Coach has two modes: 'Grammar Correct' (fixing hard errors in cases, conjugation, and spelling) and 'Style Polish' (suggesting more native-sounding ways to express your thoughts, explaining cultural nuances, and providing synonyms).

Question 14

Can I save corrections from my writing reviews directly to my Vocabulary Bank?

Accepted Answer

Yes. When the AI suggests a better word or corrects a misspelling, you can hover over the word and click 'Save to Bank' to add it to your spaced repetition queue. This ensures you actively practice the correction in future writing exercises.

Question 15

Is there speech recognition for pronunciation correction?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our speech analysis system compares your spoken audio against native phonemes and highlights specific syllables or vowels that need work, helping you refine your accent in real time.

Question 16

What platforms is Language Lift available on?

Accepted Answer

Language Lift is fully responsive and available on all web browsers across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices. Your progress and Vocabulary Bank sync instantly across all devices.

Question 17

Can I use Language Lift offline?

Accepted Answer

Offline study is available on our Pro and Premium plans, allowing you to download upcoming curriculum chapters, review lists, and vocabulary audio so you can study without an active internet connection.

Question 18

Is there a free trial or free tier?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Our Vocabulary Standard plan is completely free and allows you to save up to 200 words in your Vocabulary Bank and use our FSRS spaced review tool. We also support manual free trials for AI Practice Labs (allocating prorated credits: 75 credits for a 15-day trial, 35 credits for a 7-day trial) and Complete Fluency (allocating 200 credits for a 15-day trial, 93 credits for a 7-day trial) through the admin portal.

Question 19

How does the pricing work?

Accepted Answer

We offer three monthly plans: Vocabulary Standard ($0/mo), AI Practice Labs ($8/mo with 150 AI credits, unlimited vocab, and full speaking/writing lab access), and Complete Fluency ($15/mo with 400 AI credits, unlimited vocab, full labs, and unlimited curriculum lessons with AI roleplays).

Question 20

Can I track my learning statistics?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The dashboard provides a comprehensive overview of your metrics: total words in your Vocabulary Bank, breakdown of memory strength tiers (Learning, Reviewing, Mastered), active daily streaks, and CEFR level completion percentages.

Question 21

Why does writing accelerate language acquisition?

Accepted Answer

Psycholinguistic research shows that writing (active production) requires syntactic processing—forcing your brain to structure thoughts, select words, and apply grammar rules consciously. This builds stronger neural connections than passive reading or listening.

Question 22

How does the AI Speaking Tutor handle accents or mistakes?

Accepted Answer

The AI is designed to understand non-native speech patterns, accents, and broken grammar. Instead of stopping you mid-sentence, it allows you to complete your thoughts, then provides a helpful correction suggestion and encourages you to repeat it correctly.

Question 23

What languages are coming soon?

Accepted Answer

Spanish, French, Japanese, Italian, and Portuguese are currently in development. Our teams are building native-led structured curricula and custom speech engines for each of these languages.

Question 24

What is a 'Story Lesson'?

Accepted Answer

A Story Lesson is a curriculum chapter that teaches language through an ongoing narrative. Instead of learning disconnected sentences, you follow characters through real-world situations, learning the vocabulary and grammar required to understand the plot.

Question 25

Can I learn multiple dialects of a language (e.g. High German vs. Austrian German)?

Accepted Answer

Our core German curriculum is based on Standard German (Hochdeutsch) as used in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. However, advanced lessons introduce regional differences in pronunciation, idiom usage, and vocabulary.

Question 26

Is my personal data and writing secure?

Accepted Answer

Yes. All user essays, conversations, and account details are encrypted in transit and at rest. We never sell your data or use your personal writing submissions to train public AI models.

Question 27

How long does it take to reach B2 using Language Lift?

Accepted Answer

While it depends on study intensity, studying 30 minutes daily with Language Lift can help most learners progress from absolute beginner to conversational B2 fluency within 9 to 12 months due to our efficient Vocabulary Bank loop.

Question 28

Does Language Lift offer school or group licenses?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we offer specialized teacher and institution portals where educators can create custom curricula, monitor student Vocabulary Banks, assign writing topics, and track group progress analytics.

Question 29

Can I export my Vocabulary Bank to other apps like Anki?

Accepted Answer
